Val has been my personal trainer for many years and one of the things I admire most about her is the consistent drive to improve her skills as a trainer and find new challenges for her clients. She is equally competent training men and women and customizes her workouts to fit each person’s needs. I am quite sure I would never have given kettlebells a try on my own, but Val has made me appreciate what a fantastic workout they can be; especially while exercising on the beach! I’ve been troubled with back problems since I was a kid and I truly believe that the RKC workouts have strengthened my back to the point where I rarely have issues anymore. If you are in the least bit intrigued by kettlebells, or just interested in getting a good old fashioned butt-kicking, you have to make an appointment to see Val!

I thought a kettlebell was some ol’ timey thing you rang to let everyone know dinner was ready. That was until Val introduced them into my workout routine. Swinging a heavy object around can be pretty intimating, but Val makes it safe, fun, and effective. She’s a great fitness coach. My back feels better than ever, my legs are strong like bear, and I get two tickets to the “gun show” every year.

I’m somewhat cynical and always demanding, so when it was suggested that I try the kettlebell workout, I had my doubts. I gave it a try and found it to be a great combination of cardio and strength fitness. If I ventured in kettlebells on my own, I would have injured myself badly without the instruction and studious supervision of Val Waldron. Every profession has its spectrum of great to poor quality professionals with most residing somewhere in the middle. Val is at the great end of the spectrum and really can’t be appreciated unless you’ve used another trainer as a point of reference. I like the kettlebell workouts to mix in with some other regular routines, but it’s Val who really impresses me. She is a class act. She is someone who takes her work seriously, cares deeply about her clients, strives to stay abreast of the latest studies and is able to transfer all that knowledge to her “victims” to create a unique and meaningful program for each. Count me as a fan.

From the start of the warm-up, you could tell that Val is a total professional. Very focused, knowledgeable and considerate, Val tailors her instruction to all levels of activity and performance. She knows how and when to make proper adjustments to your form and movement to ensure that you are getting the maximum benefit. Recommend taking any and all of her classes.

I’ve trained with Val for many years, and I can honestly say “she’s the best”. She listens and understands what you really want in a workout and her background and training help to accomplish it. I have back and neck issues, so I was a little hesitant in trying the kettlebells. But, Val has a way of making you do things the right way – even if it takes a little longer to get there – and I’ve never hurt myself. I get stronger and stronger each time. I love the workouts and feels fabulous after. Try it – you’ll see why!

I was very fortunate to have Val as an Assistant Instructor at the April’11 RKC.
She handily demonstrated her knowledge about all things kettlebells, providing tweaks and tidbits as needed, all weekend long. I was especially grateful for her wisdom about ‘thinking of externally rotating my femur’ so that my knee, which was still tweaky from a sparring injury (against 2 black belts), would not hurt on squats and heavy swings.
I would be remiss if I did not mention that she seemed to take special delight in making sure our team was bracing our abs properly by hitting us in the gut during the hardstyle lock. Needless to say, I stayed tight all weekend long!
If you are in her neck of the woods, I HIGHLY recommend you drop what you’re doing (unless it’s a small child or an incendiary device) and go get some great kettlebell training from her!

I have worked out with a lot of different personal trainers…and I believe Val’s kettlebell workout is the most effective workout I have ever had! My core strength, lower back, and abs have never felt stronger. You can tell Val is very well trained and is always trying to improve her kettlebell knowledge, so she can pass on even more information to us. Probably few men measure their own level of fitness by comparing to their little sister…unless that little sister is Val! It only took one Kettlebell workout with Val before I was totally hooked. She is not only a great instructor, but working out with her will show you just how fit she really is! Having played virtually every sport in high school, football in college, and now the Marines; I have seen many different workout regimens. Kettlebells are the best, hands down! But even with that workout experience, you need a knowledgeable, certified instructor to teach you the nuances of KB training. Val is that instructor! I met Val this last weekend when we both assisted on Team Engum at the largest ever RKC in St. Paul. It takes a lot to stand out in a roomful of RKC instructors but Val did exactly that.

Val rocks!!! Val’s transformed my thinking of a Kettlebell workout. I was originally scared and concerned I would get injured throwing a heavy iron ball around. It took only one session with Val to realize she knew exactly how to instruct proper body mechanics and utilize a routine geared to tighten my butt, firm my abs and strengthen my core. There’s not a moment wasted in Val’s workouts, which I appreciate. I love taking the workout outside, away from the germ infested gym and into the fresh air. Kettlebell’s are awesome but I strongly suggest only working with a very reputable trainer and insist they are RKC (certified to teach Kettlebells); you’ll get this with Val. She awesome!! Go for it!
